Nepali Folk Bag. This ample tote is made by village handloom weavers from the hilly and mountainous regions where the raw materials originate. Jute is a strong, durable, color and light-fast fibre. All our items are made by skilled artisans and we select our sources carefully to be 100% free of child labor.

Religion still wields its influence on the weaving process. In the Hindu autumn festival of Dashain, the Newar perform rites to their tools and machines. Inside the house the women decorate the looms with symbols of the sun and moon. They hope to invoke the god’s blessing upon their craft.

Our Jute Monk Bag has one large lined compartment and an outside zippered compartment. Shoulder strap measures approximately 42" long total. Natural color. 15 inches wide x 13 inches high.
